Well, we’ve been working on a project test materials for light transmission, so we’ve had to bring in some new materials. In addition to clear generic PETG, we’ve brought in clear PLA(Filaments.ca), ABS(Filaments.ca), PLAdium(In-PLA from Taulman 3D), XT(Colorfab), Natural HiPS(VoxelFactory). Yes some, are duplicates, but some filament manufactures have different formulas for materials in the same classifications so we want to check how this affects light transmission.
It’s been a fun exercise, and I can’t post photo’s of the prototype parts, but I plan on making some sample parts so you can see the differences between the materials in terms of clarity and colouring.
So far I’m impressed with the XT, and the PLAdium. Now to design a part to test the clarity. Look for a future post with pictures of the test results!
